Cayouche

 Réginald Charles Gagnon

Cayouche, whose real name was Réginald Charles Gagnon, was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, in 1949.

He released his first album, titled Un vieux hippy, in 1994. His first record, which he self-produced with his friend and manager Jean-Marc Dufour, was recorded in a studio in the Caraquet area. He was living in Burnsville at the time.

Four more albums followed: Moitié-moitié in 1996, Roule, roule in 1999, Last call in 2003, and Le rappel in 2011.

Even though he didn't release any new songs after 2011, he continued his career on stage until 2023, notably participating in the mega-show Tracadie last August.

After being exiled to the United States with his mother at the age of 13, he returned to Canada in 1979, when he was 30 years old.

He lived in Maisonnette, in the Acadian Peninsula.
